Cricket fans were treated to a breathtaking display of power hitting in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, when Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) opener Shaqkere Parris sent the crowd into a frenzy with a gigantic 124-meter six. Power-hitting is often one of the most thrilling aspects of T20 cricket, and Parris showcased his incredible strength with one of the longest sixes in recent memory. This stunning shot came during a key moment in TKR’s match against the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) on September 18 at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad.

In the fast-paced world of T20 cricket, the ability to hit big sixes can change the momentum of the game instantly. Parris’s colossal strike did just that, electrifying the atmosphere and boosting his team’s confidence. While the match itself saw ups and downs for both teams, it was moments like these that fans cherish. The 21-year-old’s spectacular shot not only stood out in the game but also became a viral sensation on social media, with fans and cricket experts alike marveling at the young opener’s power.

Shaqkere Parris’s Massive 124-Meter Six Stuns the Crowd

The highlight of the match came in the third over of TKR’s innings. Guyana Amazon Warriors’ bowler, Gudakesh Motie, delivered a full-length ball, but Shaqkere Parris had other plans. With a powerful swing of his bat, Parris sent the ball flying over the deep mid-wicket boundary. The ball soared through the air, clearing the stadium roof and landing 124 meters away! This extraordinary shot left the commentators and the audience in awe, instantly becoming one of the most talked-about moments of CPL 2024.

Parris’s six not only showcased his raw strength but also his impeccable timing. Smashing a ball over 100 meters is a rare feat, and to send it 124 meters is even more impressive. Although Parris only managed to score 29 runs from 29 balls, including two boundaries and two sixes, his monstrous six stole the spotlight and became the talking point of the match. Fans and cricket lovers took to social media, flooding Twitter with videos and reactions to the massive hit.

TKR’s Chase and Match-Winning Partnership

Despite Parris’s impressive six, the Knight Riders faced a challenging task of chasing 149 runs set by Guyana Amazon Warriors. The team lost key wickets early in the innings. Captain Sunil Narine, Nicholas Pooran, and Kieron Pollard couldn’t contribute much, and by the 15th over, TKR had lost half their side for just 89 runs.

However, the match took a dramatic turn when Andre Russell and Tim David formed an unbeaten partnership for the sixth wicket. The two power hitters turned the game in TKR’s favor with a match-winning 60-run partnership off just 26 balls. Russell, in his usual aggressive style, smashed 36 runs off just 15 balls, including four massive sixes. Tim David played a supporting role, contributing 31 not out from 24 balls, with one four and two sixes. Thanks to their efforts, TKR clinched victory by five wickets with just four balls to spare.

Guyana Amazon Warriors’ Struggles with the Bat

Earlier in the match, Guyana Amazon Warriors struggled to put up a challenging total after winning the toss and opting to bat first. TKR’s bowlers made early inroads, with Akeal Hosein dismissing opener Kevin Sinclair for just 9 runs. Tim Robinson tried to stabilize the innings with a steady 34 off 28 balls, but the middle order crumbled. Key players like Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer, and Moeen Ali failed to make an impact, leaving the Warriors in trouble.

It was Romario Shepherd’s brilliant knock at the end that saved the innings for GAW. Shepherd smashed 51 runs from 24 balls, hitting three boundaries and four sixes, while Dwaine Pretorius contributed 21 runs off 25 balls. The duo managed to push GAW’s total to 148/7 in their 20 overs, giving their bowlers something to defend. However, TKR’s strong lower-order batting proved too much for them in the end.

Bowling Dominance by TKR

TKR’s bowling attack was equally impressive, restricting Guyana to a modest total. Sunil Narine, the captain, and Waqar Salamkheil took two wickets each, keeping the pressure on GAW’s batters throughout the innings. Narine’s early breakthrough, coupled with disciplined bowling from the rest of the attack, made it difficult for GAW to accelerate the scoring. Their failure to build partnerships ultimately cost them the match.
