India Today TV’s News Director, Rahul Kanwal, recently sat down with Telangana’s Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, for an exclusive interview. During their conversation, Kanwal asked Reddy about his understanding of the political dynamics in neighboring Andhra Pradesh and its Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu (CBN). Kanwal probed, “Do you understand that party, that state, and CBN well? Do you feel there’s competition from the neighboring state of Andhra?”
Revanth Reddy’s response was a creative analogy from cricket. He compared legendary cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar to the current cricketing icon Virat Kohli. “Sachin and Gavaskar are legends of the game, but now it is Virat Kohli’s era. In this era, Kohli shows how the game should be played,” Reddy remarked.
This 20-second clip resonated with cricket fans and quickly went viral on social media. Kohli’s admirers praised Reddy for his words, interpreting them as a nod to the cricketer’s prowess. The clip also highlighted Reddy’s personal admiration for Kohli. Known as a sports enthusiast, Reddy enjoys playing football and has consistently supported athletes while advocating for better sports facilities in Telangana.
A Vision for Telangana Cricket
Revanth Reddy is also keen on elevating cricket in Telangana. Under his leadership, the Telangana Cricket Association made an ambitious announcement to inspire Hyderabad’s cricket team. The association pledged that if the team wins the Ranji Trophy within the next three years, each player would receive ₹1 crore and a BMW car as a reward.
However, Hyderabad’s current performance in the Ranji Trophy suggests an uphill battle. With just one win in their five group matches this season and two games remaining, the team’s chances of claiming the title appear slim. Hyderabad has won the Ranji Trophy twice, with the last victory dating back to the 1986-87 season.
Despite the challenges, Reddy’s commitment to sports and his efforts to boost Telangana’s cricketing profile have garnered appreciation from fans and athletes alike.
