In the first ODI match held in Bridgetown, Barbados on July 27th, Indian cricketer Virat Kohli stunned everyone with a remarkable one-handed catch. The catch came during the 18th over, bowled by Ravindra Jadeja, when West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd attempted a shot, but the ball nicked the edge of his bat and flew towards Virat, who was positioned at second slip.
Virat displayed incredible reflexes, diving to his right and cleanly grabbing the ball with one hand. Shubman Gill, who was at the first slip, was taken aback by Virat’s spectacular catch, and even Shepherd couldn’t believe he was dismissed.

India performed exceptionally well throughout the match, bowling out the West Indies for just 114 runs in 23 overs. Shai Hope was the only batsman to show some resistance, scoring 43 runs. Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets, conceding 37 runs in six overs, while Kuldeep Yadav, the Player of the Match, dismissed four players, including Hope, giving away only six runs in three overs, two of which were maidens.
In response to the target of 115 runs, India made some changes in their batting order. Instead of Rohit Sharma, wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan came out to open with Shubman Gill. Kishan impressed with a brilliant knock of 52 runs off 46 balls, but Gill’s lean patch continued, and he was dismissed for just 7 runs.
Suryakumar Yadav contributed 19 runs at number three, and Hardik Pandya, who was promoted up the order to bat at number four, got run out after scoring five runs. Shardul Thakur, who had an opportunity to bat higher, managed only one run. However, Jadeja (16 not out) and Rohit (12 not out) guided India to victory, securing a five-wicket win for the Men in Blue in just 22.5 overs.
