Watch: Rahkeem Cornwall’s Hilarious Runout on First Ball in CPL

Cricket has always valued the skill of running between the wickets, but sometimes players find themselves in embarrassing situations. One such incident unfolded with Rahkeem Cornwall on Friday, and it’s hard to forget.

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is known for its exciting moments, and the latest edition kicked off after India’s tour concluded. The Barbados Royals faced the St Lucia Kings in Gros Islet. The Kings set a big target of 201/6, making the focus shift to the Royals’ openers, Kyle Mayers and Rahkeem Cornwall. They are known for their explosive batting, but an unfortunate incident on the very first ball of the innings turned things around for the worse.

Facing Matthew Forde’s delivery, Cornwall got an inside edge that took the ball to short fine leg. A misfield by Chris Sole led Cornwall to believe there was a chance for a quick run. However, running quickly isn’t exactly Cornwall’s strong point. Instead of hustling, he casually strolled towards the other end, banking on the fielder making a mistake to save him. But Sole had a different plan. He threw the ball sharply to the non-striker’s end, hitting the stumps with Cornwall far from the crease. As a result, Cornwall had to leave the field.

Cornwall’s lack of effort in that moment was quite unusual to witness, and it wasn’t a surprise that it became the highlight of the match in CPL.
