IND vs NEP Asia Cup 2023: In the Asia Cup match between India and Nepal, fans on Twitter were left in disbelief as Indian fielders Shreyas Iyer and Virat Kohli dropped two straightforward catches on consecutive balls early in the game.

Nepal’s batting weaknesses were evident once more at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. They almost lost two wickets in the first couple of overs, similar to their previous match against Pakistan. However, to Nepal’s relief, India’s fielding performance was shockingly poor. Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj were visibly frustrated at the mistakes made by Iyer and Kohli.

The first missed opportunity occurred on the last ball of the first over when Kushal Bhurtel was batting. Bhurtel attempted a powerful shot at a short and wide delivery from Shami but managed only a thick outside edge. The ball went towards the first slip, where Iyer was positioned. It should have been a routine catch for Iyer, but he reacted too slowly and fumbled, missing the catch. Astonishingly, on the very next delivery, Aasif Sheikh drove a ball from Siraj. Kohli, stationed at short cover, tried to make the catch easier for himself by jumping, but he too fumbled and couldn’t hold on to the ball.

To make matters worse, Ishan Kishan, with the wicketkeeping gloves on, also dropped a straightforward catch in the fifth over. This series of fielding blunders led fans on Twitter to question India’s level of preparation, particularly in the fielding department. The collective reaction from fans was a resounding “Just wow!”
