Sri Lankan commentator Roshan Abeysinghe faced criticism recently for making a sarcastic comment about Mayanti Langer’s choice of clothing. Mayanti, a popular sports presenter in India, was discussing the South Africa vs. Australia semi-final with commentator Sunil Gavaskar at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The game ended with Australia winning by three wickets.
Abeysinghe posted a picture featuring Mayanti and Gavaskar, where Mayanti was wearing a blue blazer and the commentator himself was in a white shirt and blue jeans. His caption read, “Never knew 2-piece Suit can be shared” with a smiling emoji. However, this sarcastic remark didn’t sit well with netizens, who criticized him on social media.

Some users expressed their disappointment, with one saying, “Now I know why Sri Lankan cricket is at the bottom. Education is necessary first of all.” Another user called out Abeysinghe, saying, “Shame on you to call yourself an international team commentator.” Others commented on the poor taste of the remark and expressed hope that he could do better.
